Ok, we’ve got a platoon of soldiers and they’ve been sent to battle in Vietnam. It includes Willem Dafoe and Charlie Sheen along with their tough boss Tom Bergeron. They’re trekking through the Vietnamese woods…for like all the movie? Hard to say. But at one point Charlie Sheen starts regretting he’s gotten involved in the war. I think he though it was going to be more heroic but now he’s like ‘hey I might die.’ Eventually Tom Bergeron ends up being a bad dude. He murders some innocent Vietnamese. The platoon tries to turn against him but then he gets Willem Dafoe killed by friendly fire. This makes Charlie Sheen really mad and Charlie gets him back. I think Charlie ends up stabbing him. Charlie is the only one to make it out alive by hiding behind a dirt wall.
Hindsight Analysis – By Tom Bergeron I think I meant Tom Berenger. Basically same person.

Platoon is a movie about the Vietnam War. It focuses on the internal conflict within a platoon regarding questionable decisions made during the war. It follows the point of view of a young soldier who watches as one platoon leader commits literal war crimes and the other disagrees with those decisions. In the end, they are trying to catch a helicopter to get out, but the more moral platoon leader is shot and dies in an image that is often used in advertising for the film.
